Summary: Fingerprint only systems identify the individual by comparing the read fingerprints against the stored record, scan or template. This does not require any supportive identification method such as a card, PIN code or tag. There will need to be an operational override for people without measurable fingerprints.

Summary: Identification of the entrant is via a physical device such as a card or tag, or a PIN number. The verification of the identity is a secondary process using a fingerprint. Summary: The physical clock may be isolated from the server or central data/logical computer due to distance, geographic location or movement/portability. Communication may be established using a radio link to establish a network. On a simpler level, the clocking information may be sent as an SMS.
