A state-of-the-art digital CCTV system similar to that recently installed by Thales Advanced Engineering in the revamped Cavendish Square shopping centre in Cape Town, generated a huge amount of interest from developers at Securex this year.
So says Ivor Fairney, sales manager for the company, adding that the Cavendish Square system is fully integrated with existing alarm systems in the mall's various shops. This seamless integration allows movement in all the shops to be recorded and shown on screen.
Based on the company's Kronos combination, the 130-camera CCTV system is user- friendly offering 'one click' information retrieval. "Our easy to access stored data proved to be a hit," says Fairney, pointing out that large integrated systems are normally very complex and difficult to use.
The system, which has been in place since December, is interactive and was designed and installed within a matter of weeks to cope with the holiday rush.
"The advantage of our system is that it is locally made and fitted. If there are any problems our support staff are simply a phone call away," added Fairney.
