I refer you to your article on SASA and the SAIS part ('The Security Association of South Africa') of the July 2010 edition of Hi-Tech Security Solutions. The South African Institute of Security broke away from SASA in 1978 when it was established. We celebrated our 30-year anniversary last year. Before that it was the educational wing of SASA and not known as the Institute. SASA was never responsible for the formation of the Institute which is an independent professional body. The Institute is the professional training body of SIA.
The Institute has maintained close ties with SASA with the SAIS chairman sitting on the SASA national executive and the SASA president sitting on the SAIS Board of Governors. Both serve as non-executive members.
Regards,
Terry Scallan, chairman, Board of Governors, South African Institute of Security
