Suprema by name, suprema by nature

February 2010 Access Control & Identity Management

Suprema is a leading global provider of biometric recognition and identity management solutions, with representation in 100 countries and distribution of over half a million fingerprint products worldwide. Suprema more than lives up to its name, with a full range of fingerprint products, including OEM modules, live capture and passport solutions, access control devices, and time and attendance systems and software.

When Suprema unveiled the first BioStation in 2006, it was the world’s first biometric security system with a colour LCD and wireless LAN for access control and time and attendance applications. It featured a 2,5” 16M colour LCD to display multimedia contents such as animation, photos and video clips; delivered the fastest fingerprint identification speed to perform 3000 matches in one second using state of the art dual 32 bits CPU (RISC + DSP); and included a 32 MB flash memory and the ability to store and process up to 50 000 fingerprint templates and 500 000 event logs in its internal memory.

BioStation V2

Now Suprema has launched the BioStation V2 with expanded memory and control capacity. The upgraded version comes with 1 GB of flash memory which can store 400 000 fingerprint templates (200 000 users) for verification and 20 000 fingerprint templates (10 000 users) for identification. It also supports a new, fast matching mode, allowing limited user input for improved identification speeds when large identification databases are required. And, as if that was not enough, it can now store one million event logs. There are just two things that have been left untouched: the great sleek styling and the price.

Suprema in Africa

Suprema is implemented in more than 10 African countries. neaMetrics has been a distributor of Suprema products in southern Africa since 2006, when it was drawn to Suprema’s unparalleled client support and sustained willingness to adapt its products to suit the African market. Since 2006 alone, Suprema has released more than 20 new fingerprint products and even more enhancements to existing products.

neaMetrics’ focused involvement with Suprema products, together with its dedicated customer support, offers its current and future distribution network huge growth potential, and neaMetrics welcomes all enquiries from interested integrators and distribution partners.

The Supreme difference

* Number one ranked algorithm. (Top ranked in the last two Fingerprint Verification Competitions (FVC2004 and FVC2006), with seven gold medals in 2006. FVC is the world’s largest evaluation of fingerprint matching technologies and Suprema is the only company to win both categories in the last two events.)

* Top interoperability. (Suprema outperformed all tested vendors in National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Minutia Interoperability Exchange (MINEX) in November 2008. MINEX certification is a big driver of US and other government procurement.)

* Winner of the Frost & Sullivan Industrial Technologies Award, October 2009. This award recognises growth in terms of revenue, technology achievements and penetration in biometric markets.

* Winner of the Detektor International Award for Best Product of 2009 in the Access Control category for its BioLite Net device.

* Short-listed for Access Control Product of the Year at the IFSEC Security Awards 2009.

* Promotes development of customised access control and time and attendance through OEM modules and device SDKs, with South African development support.

* Ongoing product development.

* Free ongoing training and support to all distribution partners.

• Extremely competitive pricing.
