Sandwell Engineering integrated its security solutions with Impro IXP400i technology.
Sandwell Engineers is an international engineering contractor in bulk materials handling for ports and marine, rail, power, petroleum, industrial process, manufacturing and general building industries. Founded in 1948 in Vancouver, Canada, Sandwell made its name in the international pulp and paper industry, before merging in 1986 with long-time affiliate Swan Wooster Engineering. Since Sandwell’s merger, more than 25 000 assignments worldwide have been completed.
The Sandwell Johannesburg office, managed by Victor Neto, required a complete access control system that would not only integrate alarms and CCTV solutions already in place, but it would need to be a comprehensive building management system that would see this division of Sandwell Engineering securely controlled and managed with minimal chance of human error.
Sandwell Engineering is now running a complete building management solution on site with fire, intrusion, CCTV and access control all running on the ImproNet backbone and GUI (graphic user interface).
The preferred access control system selected was the IXP400i using one ECII Controller controlling six APB (Anti-PassBack) doors with Micro Mullion (MMA) and Metal Harsh Environment (MHA) Antenna Readers.
The solution has been seamlessly integrated with the CADDX NX8E intrusion panel used together with the CADDX alarm panel integration module (IXP951). A Ziton fire panel was used together with the Ziton fire panel integration module (IXP950), while the CCTV products used included an iNet DVR. CCTV cameras were sourced from Samsung in the form of analogue cameras that were integrated with the Impro Vision (INI920) integration module.
