Here it is - the Access Control Handbook 2006/7, the third of its kind and this time published separately from Hi-Tech Security Solutions.
Again, the Handbook aims to raise awareness of aspects and applications of access control as well as the various approaches to access control, which are obviously very different, depending on the sector in which such a solution is required.
The layout of the Handbook is slightly different this year in that we start with some overviews of general access control.
Then we look at various vertical sectors and have opinion pieces and/or case studies pertaining to access control approaches specific to each of these sectors. The articles are to guide you in your choice of solutions and to inform you of what is available, while the case studies put it all in perspective and allow you to virtually see what has been done at an array of sites.
Methods of access control are evolving constantly - from fires in front of caves in prehistoric times to modern-day vein scanning - and I often ask myself "What next?" Add to this the convergence of physical and logical security and the landscape is even broader...
We hope you find this Handbook educational and informative.
