Motorola's concept of seamless mobility - that harnesses the power of technology convergence and enables smarter, faster, cost-effective and flexible communication - will be the focus at Securex 2006. Enabling solutions will include Canopy, a fixed wireless broadband access system; Mesh Enabled Architecture for the creation of robust, mobile wireless broadband networks and a range of biometric identity management and national security systems.
These solutions offer immense potential for security industry applications. For example, mesh technology was developed to provide reliable mobile broadband communications on the battlefield. It is proven and secure, offering a self-forming, self-healing and self-balancing routing solution that allows wireless devices to become the network. In fact, vehicles moving at speeds approaching 200 kilometres per hour can automatically join a mesh network, enabling completely new models for mobility. Networks can be established instantly virtually anywhere, even in places with no fixed infrastructure. Realtime tracking of responders using built-in position location technology - that does not rely on GPS - allows the location of vehicles and personnel to be displayed automatically on any computer, improving safety and efficiency.
