One of the United Kingdom's leading value fashion retailers, Mark One, has announced that it will roll-out Sensormatic Electronics Corporation's acousto-magnetic electronic article surveillance (EAS) security systems across 25 of its stores over the next two months to reduce shrinkage from its High Street stores. Sensormatic's acousto-magnetic anti-theft systems, tradenamed Ultra Max, were chosen after a year-long trial resulted in a 60% reduction in stock loss and significantly less false activations.
"We wanted a technology capable of supporting Mark One into the 21st century," said Chris Swaby, Mark One National Security and Audit Manager. "We looked at several suppliers before making our final choice. I was particularly keen to work with an international, market leader capable of supporting all our needs in the future, and undoubtedly, Sensormatic matches these requirements.
"We have been very impressed with the acousto-magnetic EAS system," Swaby said. "The main advantages of acousto-magnetic as opposed to radio frequency technology are significantly less false activations and the fact that acousto-magnetic tags were harder to remove than radio frequency tags. Furthermore, the in-house training provided by Sensormatic received very positive feedback from all of our retail staff who took part."
