Digital Security Controls (DSC) has added the T-Rex "request for exit" detector to its line of PIR motion sensors. According to Andrew Stead of Elvey International, South Africa distributors for DSC, "The DSC T-Rex creates a new standard in access control sensors and provides a complete solution to exit detection and door surveillance for access control applications."
Key features
The T-Rex feature set includes "X-Y Targeting". Using two adjustable louvres located in the detection chamber, the installer can trim the detection area from 90° down to a minute 5°. Horizontal adjustment is provided by rotation of the lens. With these two adjustments, the detection area can be set not to "hit" the floor along the doorjamb - an important security feature that thwarts attempts to circumvent the door supervision.
In addition, Digital Signal Processing (DSP) makes the T-Rex the fastest exit detector on the market, capable of detecting the extremely fast movement of a hand (the target) about to push the door or turn the door handle.
A built-in 90 dB piezo door alarm sounder offers convenience that is usually only provided as a separate component. The T-Rex is also available with a secondary relay option that comes complete with an adjustable timer, bi-colour LED and a tamper switch.
