Kalatel's new Calibur DSR-1000eZ is a lower cost version of its full-featured DSR-2000e digital recorder. Users operate the DSR-1000eZ with familiar VCR-like front-panel controls, such as play, record and reverse buttons and jog shuttle dial.
"With the new Calibur eZ Triplex, both smaller and larger organisations can apply the majority of the features of our full-featured SDR-2000e at a lower cost," explains Darren Nicholson, Kalatel vice president, marketing.
The digital recorder is the same size as a typical VCR and uses simple connections for power and video. The user simply plugs in the power cord and presses one button to access the programming menu. Upon choosing a record speed and selecting the brand of multiplexer being used (if using a multiplexer), installation is complete. From that point on, the user records digitally. Ethernet ready, the DSR-1000eZ also allows users to connect the unit to their network, assign it an IP address and access it directly from their computers. Key images can be saved and shared with others via e-mail.
