Honeywell's technology partner, AST, has commissioned Phase 2 of a building management system (BMS) at a shopping centre near Randburg, harnessing Honeywell's Excel 5000 facility management system, installed during Phase 1.
Phase 2 complements the first phase of the BMS installed in 1997, using additional modules of Excel 5000 which constitute a new energy management system for the control of the airconditioning system for the entire centre, including a new ice rink facility.
Honeywell's Excel 5000 system allows for a high degree of flexibility in this application. Components of the system architecture and the tools and services to support it offer an array of options to maximise system functionality and enhance business operations.
Elements of the Excel 5000 system interact in any combination to meet specific integration needs such as HVAC, energy management, lighting, access control, fire alarm and security. Systems such as lifts, parking ramp control or PLCs can also be linked to the system and operated from a central location. The Excel Facility Integrator also provides a link to facility computers for information sharing, storage and retrieval.
