Vicon Industries has announced its digital multiplexer recorder.
This combination of multiplexer and digital video/audio recorder allows 16 channels of video to be recorded to the unit's hard drive in a variety of settings for recording rate, sensitivity and quality.
Recording time is maximised by a Wavelet compression algorithm that condenses video information without compromising quality. In addition, the audio utilises a similar codec compression scheme to optimise recording times and limit the effective bandwidth to 6 kHz.
One of the most notable features of the product is 'Museum Search' which is applied to play back video. AurorAcorD is able to divide video pictures into 192 motion detection blocks. Thus, imagining the scenario of an end-user employing the equipment at a museum where a painting has been removed, the AurorAcorD operator can nominate the block of the picture formerly occupied by the painting and scan the hard disk at an accelerated playback rate for motion in that square without having to review the whole video at the recorded rate.
AurorAcorD can be fitted with one or two hard drives or one hard drive and a CD-R/W drive. AurorAcorD features full telemetry control (PTZ). Using front panel keys, it can remotely control up to 16 camera domes/PTZ drives using RS422/485 protocol.
