Transaction Control Technologies (TCT), recently launched a new model of its Selector Door range for secure single-person access control called Versamax. The Selector Door is space-saving, taking up only the space of one door swing in the walkthrough direction, but can also - under controlled circumstances - open 90° to allow the passage of bulk goods/wheelchairs. The door prevents hostage taking and can be integrated into existing access control systems.
Malcolm Thomas, managing director of TCT explains, "Many organisations spend significant amounts of money on access control. This entire process is flawed, however, if you do not restrict access to the person whose credentials have been checked, ie the person badging with a card. Selector Door ensures that only authorised people get in."
Based on the success of the current models of the Selector Door with which TCT are approaching 500 installations countrywide, the decision was made to expand the range to include the Versamax model. Thomas said, "We identified a need for a more versatile and upmarket version of the Selector Door to further expand its application into distinctive corporate environments. The Versamax gives architects a variety of finishes to choose from in order to integrate the door into the overall interior design of a building. Versamax offers further interesting options such as camera verification and fingerprint biometrics. Other biometric devices can also easily be incorporated".
"The Selector Door which we developed and for which we have filed patents internationally, has been 'battle-tested' in the South African market and has an enviable track record of success in terms of preventing unauthorised entry into secure areas," Thomas added. "The doors can be used everywhere you want to ensure that only the right people gain entry like computer rooms, security control rooms, laboratories, research and development areas, cashiers' offices, treasury areas, document/archive rooms, as well as first-entry last-exit applications."
