International security and services giant, Group 4 Falck, which acquired two South African security companies, Callguard Security Services and Federal Protection Services at the end of last year, recently announced that it has concluded the merger of the operations of Callguard Security Services and Federal with its local Group 4 Securitas (SA) operation.
The combined expertise of the three entities covers many diverse sectors of the market from commercial and industrial, manufacturing and financial services, through to casinos, hotels and blue chip corporations. In addition, it incorporates the former Callguard cleaning company, technology, surveillance, forensic investigations, building maintenance and security training divisions.
The South African operation, with 11 offices, more than 8000 employees and a turnover of R350 million - to be known as Group 4 Global Solutions - will benefit from strategic international input and global leverage. Says Douglas Brake, managing director of Group 4 Global Solutions: "South Africa is an important market for Group 4 Falck. It has many global clients, which require global servicing and as such it needed to acquire existing established players which would provide a ready-made footprint across South Africa and enable it to meet the needs of its global clients seamlessly and quickly."
