BAA (Bavarian Aviation Authority) recently selected Heimann Systems as preferred supplier for its new generation of EDS for an initial period of three years.
The company is to equip Munich Airport with an automatic X-ray inspection system for 100% baggage inspection. A total of 30 highly advanced inspection units were employed for reliable, automatic and time-saving explosives detection at the new Terminal 2 of Munich Airport.
With the multilevel concept from Heimann Systems, Munich Airport is equipping in advance for the increasing security standards of international aviation authorities which demand the comprehensive control of all checked-in baggage as per 2003. The total value of the contract amounted to a double-digit million Euro. Along with other new contracts for the airports at Leipzig/Halle, Brussels and Amsterdam/Schiphol, this contract was the biggest ever for automatic explosives detection systems from Heimann Systems.
The Munich contract comprises 19 so-called Level 1 units (HS 10065 EDS) and 11 units (HS 10065 HDX) for Level 2, which are fully integrated into the existing baggage handling system.
