Ron Norton, Project Manager for Consolidated Security Systems in Oakland, California, has a long-term business relationship with US Internet Service Provider, Earthlink. When it came time for the company to upgrade its CCTV equipment, he decided to use Dedicated Micros' Digital Sprite Lite.
Earthlink knew it needed to upgrade its equipment to provide easier more flexible CCTV camera management and recording. "The old tape system we were using was very time-consuming and the clarity was not as good as we needed it to be," said Leland Lee, Security Coordinator with Earthlink. "Our first upgrade was a test to see how well the equipment would work and how easy it was to use it."
DSL passed the test. "From an end-user perspective, it is very simple to use," says Lee. "Once I saw the unit and how it was set up, I was not concerned with it taking some time to get used to. The layout compared to the other analog machine was basically the same, so by the end of the first day, I was using it the way I wanted."
The ease of use for security managers upgrading from an analog mux, is one of the reasons Norton finds it easy to recommend the Sprite line of multiplexers. "We like to use it because it is not as cumbersome for the end-user to operate and is engineered as well as other more expensive models."
