Conventional Fire Panel Series 500

June 2012 Fire & Safety

Bosch has introduced its Conventional Fire Panel 500 Series, a solution designed to meet the needs of small shops, warehouses and office buildings as well as schools or kindergartens. The series 500 comprises three different panel types supporting up to eight zones and 256 detectors. Their modern, attractive design and small footprint make them blend discreetly into almost any décor. Optional relay and open collector boards allow for easy customisation.

The Fire Panel 500 Series was developed with ease of use in mind. Integrators will find the panels easy to install, custom-configure, and maintain, requiring little or no training. The panels can be mounted and connected in minutes, using the integrated bubble level and a wiring diagram. The PCB is completely protected by the user interface, thus avoiding any risk of accidental damage to components.

The panels are self-explanatory, making it quick and easy to teach end users how to operate them. A quick reference guide further eases daily operations. Users do not need to know anything about fire panels or fire fighting. The status of all zones is conveniently indicated on a single LCD screen. The user interface is colour-coded, and LEDs light up to indicate active zones, any problems, and status information. Thanks to a one-man walk test with dedicated test history log, the system can be maintained by a single person.

Safety from false alarms

False alarms are minimised by requiring a fire to be detected in at least two zones or by two detectors in one zone. The panels also support delaying of alarms, so they can be investigated and verified before the outputs are activated. While this is the standard operating mode during business hours, a night mode function provides enhanced safety by allowing customers to immediately trigger sounders and strobes in the event that a fire is detected.

The Fire Panel 500 Series features separate history functions for events and walk tests to allow clear documentation of any system activity. Further, an alarm counter clearly indicates all fire alarms caused in the application. The 500 Series is certified according to the EN 54 2-4 standard, enabling integrators to offer affordable solutions to small applications without sacrificing safety.
