Tavcom has provided surveillance skills training for 20 of the operators of the Sussex police CCTV scheme in June. Provided by Dr Craig Donald, the course is the same as that provided in South Africa and includes observation skills, evidence gathering, profiling and body language.
Sussex police see the course as part of a development program for all their operators with additional training for their remaining operators being scheduled in August. The response to the course from delegates and management was positive with a number of points emerging from the course to be incorporated into the Sussex CCTV best practices.
Donald comments that the fact that the course has received this kind of international recognition demonstrates the quality and specialist service that comes out of South Africa. This comes on top of training provided in Canada and Botswana as well as additional training provided by Tavcom to some of the premier operations in the UK.
