American Dynamics, part of Tyco Security Products, has announced the launch of its new Illustra 600 Series of High Definition (HD) IP cameras.
Security integrators are choosing Illustra 600 mini-domes over other brands thanks to the free auto-configuration software included with the cameras and the hands-free, remote auto-focus and zoom capability. Banking and retail security professionals are particularly interested in the Illustra 600 IP cameras due to their facial detection capability – the ability to automatically detect faces in a live scene and improve the image quality around the face, while conserving bandwidth in the rest of the scene.
“Capturing quality facial images is important, particularly in businesses that are monitoring places like cash registers, entrances, and teller lines,” said Steve Carney, senior product manager for IP cameras. “Unlike other cameras on the market, the Illustra 600 has the ability to detect a face and increase the bit rate around it, without cropping out important background images. This unique handling of ‘regions of interest’ allows the camera to save on bandwidth and storage costs.”
