Turnstar recently launched a range of high-security rising bollards. This marks a major development in the ultra-high security and anti-terror industries of South Africa.
The housing of a rising bollard is typically installed flush in the roadway and the bollard is then designed to raise to the secure position by means of a hydraulic piston. The rising bollards are available in a number of diameters, from 90 mm up to 356 mm, in both a coated structural steel and stainless steel depending on aesthetic and corrosion resistance requirements.
The bollards are raised and lowered using a heavy-duty hydraulic system and are designed to remain in operation and intact even after being hit by a fully loaded truck at high speed. Turnstar’s 356 mm diameter bollard is designed to withstand the impact of a 30-ton truck travelling at 80 km/h.
The bollards are also available in various heights, from 600 mm up to 1200 mm. In order to increase the visibility of the bollard, ultra-bright LED lights can be fitted. For high security installations, Turnstar offers the accumulator feature which raises and lowers the bollard in under one second.
Hydraulic bollards are typically installed at entrances to government buildings, embassies, airports, railway stations, oil and gas refineries and sensitive installations.
