UTC Fire & Security South Africa has recently announced the re-launch of the LaserSense range of HSSD equipment. The LaserSense range detects incipient fires in various environments, making them well-suited to protect EDP (computer) equipment in high air-flows and other difficult-to-protect environments. The detector may be configured to be so sensitive that it will detect a slowly building fire before any damage occurs, while it is also virtually impossible to have a nuisance alarm. The system uses a unique patented form of artificial intelligence called ClassiFire which guarantees the system to maintain maximum safe sensitivity.
The new LaserSense Nano is a high-sensitivity smoke sensor designed to give the earliest possible warning of fire. Smoke from the protected area is drawn through the detector and analysed twice every second. Over a period of 24 hours, smoke pollution distribution in the protected environment is compiled in a databank which is continually updated. The detector adjusts sensitivity to match changes in the normal ambient smoke density, ensuring a constant response.
LaserSense is manufactured by AirSense, a UTC Fire & Security company.
