EFFIO, an acronym for enhanced features and fine image processor, is the latest next generation digital signal processing (DSP) technology offered by Sony.
The EFFIO DSP has three versions available, namely the E, S and P versions, with each being specific to the requirement of the product. Although EFFIO was available in late 2009, it was officially released in July 2010, but it was not until the recent development of the Sony 960H EXview HAD CCD II which, when used in conjunction with the EFFIO DSP allows for resolutions of more than 650TV lines (570k pixels). Elecsec Distributors offers product using the EFFIO-E DSP and 960H CCD. Seeing the need for higher resolution analogue cameras, it was decided to have available, a camera that is of the highest quality with the highest possible resolution offered by any analog CCTV camera.
Using EFFIO DSP allows for functions such as adaptive tone reproduction (ATR), privacy masking, 2D noise reduction and high light compensation (HLC) – the latter more commonly known as the eclipse function.
All these functions are fully selectable through the cameras On Screen Display menu settings. Additional features such as e-zoom, slow shutter (sense up function) and digital image stabilisation will also be available when using the EFFIO-P DSP, due to be realised by Sony shortly.
