Alien Systems & Technologies (AST) was recently honoured by a visit from The World Bank. The delegation of World Bank and DTI personnel was headed by Mohua Mukherjee, who is the Senior Private Sector Development and Finance Specialist of The World Bank.
The visit was prompted by the success of Pyroshield, an environmental friendly and nontoxic alternative to Halon, which is produced locally by AST.
The Pyroshield system utilises a mixture of Argon and Nitrogen which reduces the oxygen in the protected area to a level that extinguishes the fire while still allowing people to breathe normally. The system has received Bureau Veritas approval for land-based structures, as well as Marine Approval by the South African Maritime Safety Authority.
The delegation visited the company's custom-built manufacturing facility at Walkerville, South of Johannesburg, to view the manufacture and assembly of Pyroshield systems and gain first hand knowledge of the clean agent fire extinguishing systems.
