Precision’s new PVM1 digital video over fibre-optic transmitter and receiver redefines the level of affordability for high-quality digital video transmission. The PVM1 utilises the latest in FPGA design to send full D1 resolution uncompressed video up to 25 km of single-mode fibre cable, but at the price of existing multi-mode analog or FM transmitters. This enables the utilisation of the reduced cost of single-mode fibre cable while no longer paying a premium for single-mode video end equipment.
The PVM1 can also be used on existing multimode cable up to 2 km and produces much higher quality video than existing analog or FM designs.
Unlike IP video servers, or IP cameras the PVM1 sends video in uncompressed format, meaning it will not introduce any low-light artefacts or encoding-decoding delay which makes the PVM1 ideal for low-light and low-latency applications. Other models in the range include two-, four-, eight- and 16-channel digital multiplexer versions.
