Pay in passing

Schreiner Logidata, an international developer and provider of customer-specific barcode and RFID systems recently launched its ePayment label, an RFID solution designed to enable quick payments 'in passing'.

The application is particularly suited to ticket purchases such as movie tickets and bus tickets where cash needs to be accessed in a hurry. Small amounts of cash are stored on the secured RFID chip and payment for low value items is transmitted via wireless data transmission in seconds. As with card-based contactless payments, the user need not enter any personal credit card details such as PIN numbers into a terminal, making payments anonymous and secure.

Cash value is loaded to the RFID label using special self help terminals placed in banks or other convenient places such as shopping malls. The transponder label is secure and robust and can easily be applied to existing cellphones.
