SerVision’s IP-based video surveillance solutions are designed for remotely monitoring any kind of site, including locations without cabled networking infrastructure and moving platforms (cars, trains and buses). SerVision video gateways – professional DVRS with video transmission capabilities – are designed to stream live and recorded video to laptops, PDAs and cellular phones so users are able to log in at any time, anywhere, and view live or recorded video from their home, business, or vehicle.
All SerVision gateways can send SMS and e-mail alerts to users whenever sensors connected to the gateway’s inputs have been triggered, or motion has been detected. Upon notification, users are able to monitor the situation in realtime from their mobile device and take action accordingly. PTZ cameras, as well as devices connected to the gateway’s outputs, can be controlled from PCs, PDAs and cellphones. Gateway models that support bi-directional audio even allow users to use their mobile device to communicate with individuals at the monitoring site.
In evaluating remote monitoring solutions it is important to analyse the costs related to ongoing remote monitoring. South Africa and Africa in general operate on a pay per use model where you pay for the bandwidth used. The SerVision solution is an extremely efficient bandwidth user. By streaming video at 4 frames per second using only 1 Byte per second, SerVision allows you to view video for an hour at less than 4 Mbytes. Over time this offers extensive savings on a month by month basis and does not load other network based applications.
SerVision’s video monitoring solutions enable video streaming to a large range of devices including those Nokia phones that use the Symbian platform and PDAs using the Windows Mobile plaftorm. SerVision has just recently added support for BlackBerry devices.
