Xperien, a South African IT Asset Management service provider introduces HSM’s Digital Shredder product. The device erases and reconditions hard drives, incorporating Secure Erase.
It eradicates all data on the disk beyond forensic deconstruction. Its destruction command is embedded in the firmware of ATA/IDE and SATA hard drives. Once a hard drive has been wiped, the Digital Shredder can recondition it so it can be used again.
The device features an administrator created user name and password, therefore no unauthorised users can misuse the device.
CEO at Xperien Wale Arewa says, “Taking old PCs, laptops, printers and servers out of service undoubtedly is a security risk. It is, therefore, critical that the hard drives must be erased to prevent computer crimes. With the Digital Shredder, organisations have a safe and effective solution that erases their important data while reconditioning equipment for further use.”
