Roll-Up Serranda’s fire protection roller shutters are the first of their kind in South Africa to achieve international credibility through certification by TUV Rheinland, a German-based testing facility. They have been tested using the ISO standard time-temperature curve in accordance with SABS requirements, successfully reaching temperatures of 1051°C.
These steel doors operate with a fusible link and descent control mechanism, remaining permanently rolled up in a bulkhead until automatically activated by fire. They can be integrated with existing fire protection systems, do not require electric sensors or hydraulic mechanisms, and once closed, seal off the area.
The 1,5-hour rated fire door has a maximum exposed shutter area of 36 m²; the two-hour rated door can be manufactured up to 12 m². Applications include high risk facilities like sports stadiums, mines, tyre manufacturers and dealers, high-tech electrical instrument manufacturers or buildings where a need for this type of security has been identified by risk assessors.
