Protoclea Advanced Image Engineering has been awarded a contract to extend its SINON electronic on-line surveillance system which monitors and secures parking facilities at O.R. Tambo International Airport for ACSA, to the new multistorey Parking facility MSP2.
The contract will enable a further 39 parking lanes to be monitored, taking the total lanes under surveillance at O.R. Tambo to more than 100.
“Based on South African technology and design, the ACSA system is probably the largest parking security installation in the country,” says Protoclea managing director Dr Bennie Coetzer. “Its accuracy has been well proven and vehicle theft eliminated. Ongoing development will further enhance the system and with the local support provided by ACSA we have been able to develop additional technology which will ultimately be of overall benefit.”
The Protoclea SINON licence plate recognition system includes automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) technology and entrance and exit booms. Other cameras are deployed to secure the parking areas which cater for more than 20 000 vehicles a day.
