New features deliver additional protection

March/April 2001 Infrastructure

Tripp Lite, a manufacturer of power protection equipment, has upgraded its award-winning, line-interactive OmniSmart 500I uninterruptible power supply (UPS) model with new features and improved capabilities to provide additional protection from damaging fluctuations in voltage.

The OmniSmart 500I has been upgraded to handle a wider voltage range to help conserve the UPS system's battery power for serious power outages.

OmniSmart 500I's comprehensive line-interactive system automatically 'boosts' or 'cuts' incoming voltage to keep computers working through low voltage (brownouts) and high voltage conditions without using battery power. In addition, the OmniSmart 500I now provides modem/fax surge protection on two phone lines simultaneously.

"With the added features on the OmniSmart 500I, we can provide our international customers with even more power protection and additional peace of mind," said Christy Prosapio, Tripp Lite's International Marketing Manager.
