Modular Communications has installed a digital CCTV system at SAB's Ibhayi Brewery in Port Elizabeth.
The project includes 60 strategically placed closed circuit television cameras. These include the Plettac speed domes, the FAC800 series low light level colour cameras with extended IR (infrared) sensitivity for 24 h video surveillance, as well as the Plettac FAC730 range, which employs the latest 9 bit digital signal processing techniques.
At the heart of the system is the Plettac Dallmeier range of digital recorders. Each recorder can connect up to 18 camera inputs and record these to disc at (H) 720 x 576(V) resolution. The system includes 6 such digital recorders which are networked together.
Recorded images are viewed on a Pentium III platform workstation, which is also connected to the digital recorder network. Remote viewing software is also installed onto the office workstations of the security and loss control managers via gateways to the SAB network.
Another feature of the system includes the interfacing of SAB's weighbridge computer system to one of the recorders so that truck details and weight are recorded against the respective video images covering the weighbridge.
