Axis Communications has introduced auto-tracking functionality to its top-of-the-line AXIS 233D network dome camera. Auto-tracking will automatically detect a moving person or vehicle and follow it within the camera's area of coverage. Auto-tracking is particularly beneficial in unmanned video surveillance situations where the occasional presence of people or vehicles requires special attention.
"Axis's auto-tracking enables a single PTZ dome camera to cover a large area and to automatically detect, follow and record video of moving persons or vehicles," says Roy Alves, country manager, Axis Communications. "In unmanned surveillance situations, the auto-tracking functionality not only cuts down substantially the cost of the solution since fewer cameras are needed to cover a scene, but it also increases the effectiveness of the solution."
Auto-tracking is embedded in AXIS 233D and allows for scalability and flexibility that are not achievable with analogue camera technology. The added intelligent video functionality exemplifies Axis' strategy of continually increasing the value of its network video products by introducing more functionality.
As auto-tracking is now available as a feature in AXIS 233D, current AXIS 233D owners can install auto-tracking for free by downloading the latest firmware at www.axis.com.
