RCG delivers Activo

December 2007 Asset Management, Healthcare (Industry)

RCG Holdings has announced the launch of Activo, a new innovative asset tracking system.

Activo has been developed for deployment in various sectors such as healthcare, retail, event management, document management and advertising and can be tailored for each individual market. Activo has already attracted significant interest from bluechip companies such as Microsoft and Motorola.

The launch of Activo follows RCG's success with previous solutions targeted at asset management and tracking. Customers using RCG's new Activo solution will be able to RFID tag individual items, which are also linked to a back-end system offering additional capabilities in each target market.

In the healthcare sector, Activo provides patients with an RFID health card for identity verification, medical records and heightened prescription accuracy. In the retail sector, luxury items in store, such as jewellery, can be individually tagged to identify their location. The respective items will also be linked to a customer relationship management (CRM) system, enabling consumers to access realtime product information, back-end analysis on bestseller items and shelf placement.

In the event management sector, Activo simplifies the currently complicated process of visitor registration management. Visitors may pre-register automatically by receiving a low-cost RFID badge in advance of an event. The badge allows identity verification as well as the creation of back-end crowd traffic analysis. More importantly, individual business cards are stored electronically for easy sharing and retrieval.

In office environments, individually tagged documents can be tracked by the RFID system for convenient location positioning. For the advertising sector, the use of Activo enables dynamic and personalised advertising to be displayed when a vehicle approaches certain stops or locations.

Established technology institutions have shown keen interest towards the Activo system. RCG, closely partnering with Microsoft, has examined Activo to enhance features and stability in integrating RFID systems with the BizTalk Server, a middleware platform developed by Microsoft that integrates systems, automates processes and communicates across global supply chains with RFID hardware and related application software.

Motorola also supports RCG's conviction in the vast potential for the application of Activo in the jewellery retail market. To this extent, RCG and Motorola will collectively progress R&D to further enhance the product's potential.

Commenting on the launch of Activo, Dr Raymond Chu, CEO and chairman of RCG, says, "The launch of Activo is yet another example of RCG introducing industry-leading and versatile systems to a market that shows enormous growth potential. The Group's partnerships with leading global industry players, including Microsoft, Motorola and DTTN, will enable RCG to further strengthen its global branding presence and technological capabilities."
