Some time ago Prisma Video Tech launched the first of its four-port PCI video capture cards, to a receptive South African security industry. The company has now announced the release of its second generation product. The new Quad-T-Card (trigger card) has four video inputs, four hardware trigger inputs and offers pre-event recording.
The trigger inputs can be wired to existing passive infrareds, hard contacts, boom gates, turnstiles, loops in the road or even existing alarm panels.
The pre-event and event recording times are variable, with even the number of frames per second adjustable. The card is capable of taking a series of snapshots or a clip of full motion video on the standard card, the images or streaming video of which can then be saved to disk, archived to a larger backup facility, or e-mailed to any location users may choose.
Says Prisma Video Tech's Craig Lyons, "Pre-event means that one can now capture events that took place before the alarm was sounded. This is achieved by a buffer set-up in the PC, which will save images for a defined period of time (for instance 10 s), before overwriting itself.
"One also has the choice of an audio alarm when a trigger is activated as well as when a camera signal is interrupted due to camera failure or removal," adds Lyons.
Prisma Video Tech is constantly upgrading its hardware and software and will announce new developments in due course.
