EVIM, available from Ideco, closes the biggest loophole in secure access control by identifying visitors and registering their details electronically.
EVIM uses Sagem’s GPRS-enabled MorphoTouch 2G terminal and a software operating platform developed by South African company, BioDentity. Functionality at the terminal is delivered by EVIM’s central server, allowing remote configuration according to data-capture requirements on site.
Instead of writing in a visitor book, details are entered on the terminal and ‘signed’ with a fingerprint. Within seconds, EVIM checks on a national database and confirms the visitor’s identity. The terminal then prints a gate pass and the visitor is cleared to proceed.
Time-based visitor records are stored for a minimum of three years and visitor data is only available to authorised managers at the premises being visited.
In addition to substantially increasing security, EVIM also enhances the visitor-handling process with a desktop application for pre-booking visitors, a fast-track process for frequent visitors and a reception-desk application.
