Turnstar has been selected to supply all the turnstiles for the 26th African Cup of Nations 2008 in Ghana.
The value of the Cup of Nations order is even bigger than the Cricket World Cup. Craig Sacks says: "In 2003 we supplied all the turnstiles for the Cricket World Cup. Nine stadia were involved and, with zero-failure, the waist-height turnstiles handled some 700 000-ticketed spectators. For Ghana, we will be supplying over 130 full height units and are confident that they will deliver the same faultless performance during the Cup of Nations and for many years afterwards."
The turnstiles for Ghana will be a mixture of galvanised and powder coated Triumph 4 full height units, which will be installed at each of the stadia hosting the tournament. The flagship Accra stadium will get 44 turnstiles with the remaining 88 units being installed at the Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale stadia. The first units have already been shipped from South Africa and installation is scheduled to be fully completed by the end of October, well ahead of the first cup matches in mid-January 2008.
