Sempres, the JSE-listed specialist in telemanagement systems and services, has been awarded a concession by ACSA to install and operate a wireless communication network for ACSA at Johannesburg International Airport. This will be done through Sempres' subsidiary Fleetcall, says Sempres Marketing Director Anton Joubert.
A range of users at the airport, ranging from the various airlines' ground personnel, apron services, baggage handling, fuelling, loading cargo, catering, parking and security have to be in immediate and continuous communication with each other and ACSA. This will be made possible through Sempres' telemanagement services that include wireless communication between these users or central control rooms.
"Fleetcall has erected the high site for the network to provide interference-free wireless communication. The area of coverage will include terminal buildings, the cargo terminal and the outlaying parking areas. The network will replace individual communication systems that are not always compatible with each other and could cause interference on some frequencies in the safety-conscious airport environment. This will increase efficiency and safety. It will also provide management on JIA with an invaluable tool in the case of crisis situations," says Joubert.
