To coordinate its entire gaming operation, Casino Mykonos has invested in a Motorola two-way radio system comprising 35 P40 professional portable radios and three GM350 basestations.
The handsets are being used by the gaming staff who need to interact on a daily basis to facilitate all gaming-related activities, including Jackpot and cash verifications. Mykonos' surveillance room has a CCTV network, two basestations and handsets for monitoring the entire gaming operation.
"With 250 slot machines and 12 gaming tables, tight controls have to be put in place to ensure all operations run smoothly and are conducted in accordance with the strict criteria specified by the Western Cape Gaming Board," notes Alwyn Maasz, Security Manager at Casino Mykonos.
"Two-way radios facilitate communication between the different departments and senior management. They provide rapid and reliable communication, allowing us to send a message to a group of people simultaneously and to control certain frequencies for confidential communication. We are also connected to the Club Mykonos two-way radio network, for the coordination of security throughout the entire resort."
According to Ken Rhodes, Managing Member of Motorola authorised dealer Racom Systems, the P40 radio features four channels that can be allocated according to the user's requirements. "The voice operated transmit option enables hands-free operation, which is particularly important to the security industry," he says. "The radios support scanning to allow activity on different communication channels to be monitored and answered, thus ensuring that critical calls are received and the busy channel lockout prevents radio users from interrupting each other's communications."
