Matrix and titling equipment from Vicon Industries was recently installed by Basys for Portsmouth City Council which has expanded its CCTV monitoring systems at control rooms in the city's Civic Centre.
The installation is part of a major overhaul of Portsmouth's CCTV facilities which has seen the conversion of a redundant telephonist room into an additional CCTV control room.
Chris Fletcher, a Project Engineer at Vicon, comments: "Working closely with Basys, a Gosport installer, Vicon supplied a V1300 video switching matrix which allows the flexibility to upgrade to virtually limitless numbers of camera inputs and monitor outputs.
Vicon's V1300 unit is a customer-programmable control and switching system which simplifies the design and installation of complex security installations. One card cage contains multiple CPU modules.
There is virtually no limit to size of installation with the V1300; with a single CPU card cage the customer can support 1024 cameras, 256 monitors, 2048 alarm inputs and 64 control panels. This means that even with a major installation such as the Portsmouth control rooms, the V1300 works well within its maximum operating capacity.
