Shurlok was awarded a contract to supply Proton, a Malaysian-based automotive manufacturing company with a vehicle security system.
Proton currently exports vehicles to 50 countries around the world including the highly competitive United Kingdom and continental Europe. The company currently has 63% of the Malaysian market.
Shurlok has been tasked to supply a technologically advanced security system that will be integrated into the vehicle harness for added security. The module combines advanced alarm features with the comfort of keyless entry provided by a code-hopping remote control. This remote is custom-built into the vehicle's ignition key and works in conjunction with the transponder immobiliser. A battery-backed siren completes the alarm security system.
Shurlok will supply a total of 20 000 systems for the first year with sales expecting to grow once the vehicle is exported to other countries. The total value of this first contract is R17m over the next three years.
