At the largest security exhibition in Europe, Essen 2000 which took place in October last year, Cognitec presented itself to the public for the first time. The background for this presentation was the start-up of the new company that will take over the biometric activities of plettac electronics security.
As a partner on the plettac electronics stand Cognitec presented its facial recognition products. These included the FaceVACS - Entry for physical access control; FaceVACS - Logon for computer access and the FaceVACS - Identity for identification of persons in video scenes.
Also attending the show in Germany was Cliff Rose of Modular Communications, the company that currently represents plettac electronics in South Africa and which will now also represent the sales and marketing activities of Cognitec in southern Africa. The new enterprises will develop more applications in the area of facial recognition and computer vision, based on the existing FaceVACS technology.
