Axis Communications has introduced the Axis 209FD-R, a network camera specifically for use in buses and trains. The network camera is a palm-sized, rugged unit resistant to the vibrations and high humidity in mass transit vehicles; and provides crisp, digital video over an IP network.
Measuring only 4 cm high, the camera fits in any area of a vehicle. With Power over Ethernet capability the network camera uses one Ethernet cable for both power and video, making installation quick and easy. Progressive scan technology provides sharp images of moving objects at up to 30 frames per second in Motion JPEG or MPEG-4 video compression standards. The Axis 209FD-R is housed in a tamper-resistant casing and can operate in temperatures between 0°C and 50°C and in humidity ranging from 20% to 100%.
