Controlsoft Security has introduced its Census range of long-range readers to the local market. Manufactured in the UK, the Census readers are primarily designed for vehicle tag identification using one or more aerial loops.
The vehicle is fitted with an active tag, either behind the number plate or attached to the windscreen. The aerial loop is buried in the ground in front of a barrier or automatic gate. The aerial loop is then connected to either a single or dual loop reader which outputs in standard Wiegand 26-bit format. The tag reading range is typically between 1,5 and 3 metres.
The Census readers and vehicle tags control all the entry and exit barriers at the Port of Barcelona in Spain and have now been successfully installed at several townhouse complexes in KZN.
