Bosch Security Systems has created an interface between the company's range of fire panels and its Personal Security, DECT and Paging System. Linking both systems enables fast response to fire alarms. Further, the likelihood of panic is reduced to the bare minimum by sending the alarm to selected personnel via their pager or DECT handset.
Bosch offers a range of fire panels that provide fast and effective response to all types of fire hazards. These can also interface with other building functions during an emergency: for example, controlling the heating and ventilation systems, or unlocking doors on an access control system. Now, by using Bosch's Personal Security, DECT and Paging System, new functionality is available to enable fire alarms and information on the location of a fire to be transmitted discreetly to appointed paging recipients. A further advantage is the fast identification of false alarms.
By integrating the Bosch DECT handsets and/or pagers into the fire alarm system, a silent alarm call can be automatically transmitted to appointed personnel within seconds. Information about the precise location of the fire is discreetly presented on the handset or pager display allowing for an efficient and controlled response. And when a person is absent, the system automatically forwards the alarm call to other selected colleagues. Hence, a panic is less likely to occur.
The fire alarm control system and the paging system's Alpha Desk Server are interfaced via a monitored RS232 serial connection. This server provides calls, transmitted via the paging system, with numeric and alphanumeric information messages including information on the location of a fire alarm.
