The NSR-50 video recorder receives up to 32 IP video data streams and the larger NSR-100 model can record the input from 64 cameras simultaneously. The video recorder's hardware and software provides all functions for recording, saving, monitoring and managing video streams and thus constitutes a complete, IP-based monitoring system.
"The scaleable system comes under the new IPELA brand, which Sony has used to bring together all professional communication products with IP connections," says Sony Business SA product manager, Will Klopper. "These recorders can not only be used in one location but can be networked over several, geographically separate locations using the video over IP client/server technology. The IP video recorder allows individual cameras or camera groups to be configured in many different ways.
Consequently, recording intervals, resolution, repetition rate, picture quality and alarm triggers can be defined individually. Audio data is also recorded.
In spite of the high memory capacity of just under a terabyte, the NSR-50 and the NSR-100 fit into a 19" housing with two height units. A DVD recorder is used to relay video data.
"By using the existing IP infrastructure and any existing cameras, monitoring is cost effective and quick to set up as well as easy to extend with IPELA products," adds Klopper.
