Broad based ITC distributor, Pinnacle Micro, has announced the availability of D-Link's DCS-900, a video monitoring Internet camera, and its wireless counterpart, the DCS-900G - a 2,4 GHz 802.11b enabled Securicam Network Internet camera.
"Both cameras host similar features with the only difference between the two being that the G camera is wireless," says Tiens Lange, D-Link brand manager at Pinnacle. "The DCS-900G connects quickly and easily to existing Fast Ethernet networks or 802.11b wireless networks incorporating a setup wizard created to guide users through the setup process."
Both units feature built in Web servers, which means that they can stream video images directly to the Internet. Video images captured can be viewed remotely by typing the relevant IP addresses into a Web browser. With an easy-to-use Web-based interface, the Internet cameras can be managed and configured from anywhere in the world.
The included Windows-based software provides features that allow users to archive streaming video straight to the hard drive, monitor up to four cameras on a single screen, rotate camera views, enable motion detection and update the firmware on the cameras.
"Delivering live video from virtually any Internet connection worldwide makes the new cameras suitable solutions for home consumers who would like to monitor and have access to pre-recorded captured video from inside their home when they are on the go, just popping out or on a business trip," says Lange.
"The compact design of the camera makes it easy to mount in tight spaces for viewing and monitoring in an area such as a nursery room, bookcase, and entrance or in a small office. The cameras can be installed over a store's front counter, storage room, and warehouse or virtually anywhere that needs monitoring to secure property."
