The Harmonic Group has introduced biometrics solutions to its product stack.
Initially the company will restrict its product offerings to fingerprint biometrics solutions, however, as newer technologies become more feasible such as voice and retina recognition, the company will address these on their merits.
MD, Barry Baetu, says fingerprint recognition is becoming increasingly essential across many frontiers.
"For example, more and more companies are insisting that they are dealing with the right personnel when it comes to such issues as proof of delivery (POD), that the right people are awarded subsidised home loans, or that the right person receives the proper health care and so on.
"Having a mobile fingerprint recognition solution with the right software application built in makes verification a lot easier, faster and more accurate than relying on identity documents that are so prone to abuse," says Baetu.
He adds that biometrics is also the ideal solution in fast tracking people at airports, stations or other venues where access control and linking assets to people is required.
The Microflex 2240 from DAP Technologies in Canada, weighs only 500 g and fits into the palm of your hand. It is an ideal tool for logistics, military, construction, maintenance or public safety tasks. The unit is waterproof and has exceptional battery performance of 15 hours.
The Gotive H42 enables users to communicate, capture, navigate and compute in one powerful, rugged, 580 g package. Its integrated automatic data capture options - ranging from bar code scanning to picture taking and capturing digital signatures or fingerprints - helps users collect information easily and minimises the risk of input error.
