In business the group that companies most closely monitor is not the general public, but employees. Yet most companies pay attention to possible theft of stationary and goods and do not frequently monitor the theft of time.
According to Raymond Noppe of Uniclox, in some companies, employees have been caught 'buddy clocking' in as many as 12 other employees using their employee tags.
The solution to this, says Noppe, is finger key and hand geometry. "This technology is a secure access control solution that means no employee badges are required and no buddy punching can occur."
In this regard, Noppe says that 60 years of producing in-house access control technology has enabled Uniclox to pioneer developments in this technology, and the company offers software support. "The technology we are producing is more versatile, and it also reads fast and accurately. It is a secure access control solution that means no employee badges are required and no buddy punching can occur.
"Companies that have implemented such systems in the past have been saved anything from 5% to 15% of the annual payroll. "When one considers the massive budgets and turnovers of these companies, this can mean millions of rands."
