Chubb Integrated Systems (CIS) took part in one of the two exhibitions that ran parallel with the well-attended five-day 18th World Petroleum Congress (WPC) held recently at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg. This was the first time in its 72-year history that the WPC held its tri-annual congress in Africa.
"The Southern African International Oil & Gas Exhibition 2005, the most important event on the petrol industry's calendar, was a great success for us," says Steven Barry, managing director of CIS.
"Not only were we able to reaffirm our commitment in the minds of our existing sub-Saharan and African installed base, but we were able to afford many other international visitors the opportunity to view and explore our diverse product range first hand," continues Barry.
Industry experts said the 18th WPC also provided a platform from which to attract direct foreign investment into the upstream and downstream sectors of Africa's petroleum industry.
PetroSA was the host company of the congress, while the National Oil Corporation of Libya, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, Sonangol (Angola) and Sonatrach (Algeria) were the co-hosts.
Other high profile companies who exhibited at the Oil & Gas Exhibition and who attended the WPC included British Petroleum (BP), Shell, Chinese National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC), Dimension Data, ExxonMobil, Halliburton, Kellogg Brown & Root as well as Schlumberger.
CIS is the market leader in the installation of integrated fire detection and suppression systems, CCTV, access control and turnkey security systems. The company's expertise in systems integration is extensive resulting in the completion of several multimillion rand projects for numerous clients.
