Custom designed and manufactured for Eskom Megawatt Park and the Emperor's Palace by Polycomp are only two examples of the parking management systems, which have been installed and are operating successfully.
The parking management system/s are designed as an informational system to visiting patrons or employees, directing them successfully to open parking levels with vacant parking bays displayed electronically by LED boards strategically placed at each of the parkade entrances and internally on each parking level.
The parking management systems are computer-based, driven by special management software and all the appropriate hardware to make it a fully functional information management system.
The management complexity of each system can vary from being quite basic to being more complex with special reporting software.
The Eskom Megawatt Park system is a rather basic, yet functional, system monitoring the incoming flow of vehicles and the outgoing flow at each parking level entrance and exit by way of electromagnetic wire loops embedded into the concrete. Each time a vehicle enters or exits the respective parking level a pulse is generated which updates the count for each level under software control.
At the entrance to the parkade there is a main information display showing the number of vacancies available on each level. On the ramp and entrance to each parking level there is another display showing the number of vacancies available at that parking level.
The Emperor's Palace parking management system consists of both a hardwired and wireless system.
The wireless system services the communications for all the remote displays along the roadway to the parkade. The hardwired system services the communications for all the displays on each parking level inside the parkade. This system also makes use of bi-directional electromagnetic wire loops for each parkade level, to count vehicles in and out on each level, electronically updating the entire system once more under software control.
